More Than Three Decades of Experience When the Stakes Are High

Kenneth Gibson has represented individuals facing serious criminal charges in South Carolina state and federal courts for more than 30 years.

His practice is built around careful case analysis, disciplined preparation, strategic judgment, and extensive courtroom experience. Over the course of his career, Ken has represented clients in matters involving murder, violent felony charges, federal drug prosecutions, criminal sexual conduct allegations, fraud and financial crimes, appeals, and other serious criminal matters.

Gibson Law accepts a limited number of cases so that Ken can remain directly involved in the evaluation, strategy, preparation, and resolution of the matters the firm undertakes.

Greenville Roots

Ken is a native of Greenville, South Carolina, and the son of Dr. W.F. Gibson and Lottie Gibson, whose lives were deeply connected to civic leadership, advocacy, and public service.

Their example helped shape Ken’s own belief in service, personal responsibility, and the importance of standing with people when the consequences are significant.

Greenville has remained Ken’s home throughout much of his professional life, and his connection to the community extends beyond his legal practice through public and civic service.

A Career Focused on Serious Criminal Matters

Ken’s criminal practice has included murder, violent crimes, drug trafficking and conspiracy, criminal sexual conduct, fraud, embezzlement, federal prosecutions, appeals, and other serious criminal allegations.

More than three decades of experience have taught him that effective criminal defense is not simply about fighting every issue. It requires determining which issues matter most, understanding the prosecution’s evidence, identifying weaknesses and leverage, assessing risk, and making sound strategic decisions as the case develops.

Every serious criminal case requires its own strategy. Some matters can be improved through investigation or negotiation. Others require substantial legal research and motion practice. Some belong before a jury.

The ability to distinguish among those paths—and to prepare each case so that meaningful options remain available—is a central part of Ken’s approach to criminal defense.

A Foundation of Discipline and Complex Legal Work

Ken graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1989 and served as an officer in the United States Army, including service in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

After completing his military service, he earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1995.

Ken went on to practice with major law firms including Jones Day, Greenberg Traurig, and Womble Bond Dickinson, working in sophisticated legal environments involving complex litigation and significant legal matters.

Those experiences continue to shape the way Ken approaches criminal cases today: prepare carefully, understand the details, remain disciplined under pressure, and make decisions based on strategy rather than emotion.

Public Service

Public service has remained an important part of Ken’s life.

He is an elected member of the Greenville City Council and has served in a number of civic, nonprofit, and community leadership roles throughout Greenville.

That service reflects a longstanding commitment to the community in which he was raised and continues to live and practice law.
